I need a fondant recipe that tastes good. I have tried several pre made and several recipes and I just cannot find a recipe that I think tastes good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I make Liz Marek's MMF and I really like it.  The one substitute I make is to replace 2 of the tablespoons of water with clear artificial vanilla as I found the flavour to be underwhelming without it.  I get many positive comments from cake-eaters about the fondant flavour.

And...having said that, I haven't made it with the *new* Wilton fondant yet, so I don't know whether or not it will make a big difference to the outcome, either flavour-wise, or consistency.  With the *old* Wilton, it produced a nice consistency fondant that was easy to work with.

This is not a legit fondant recipe, but it has worked for me and everyone loves it. Although some fondant tastes good, it can be a huge pain to work with. Another reason why I make this type of my own, hand-crafted fondant. The final reason why I make this type of fondant is because the ingredients are basic and the instructions simple.

Mix together powdered sugar, water, and some softened butter. Mix to a frosting consistency.

When at the perfect frosting consistency, add more powdered sugar until you reach a thick fondant-like consistency.

Colors can be mixed in my kneading the fondant, making it so much easier to clean up, you have less bowls. I suggest kneading on a cutting board.

I hope this helps. :)
