AI am thinking of doing home made vanilla. The recipe looks simple 10 vanilla beans split lengthwise and 1 liter of vodka. Now I is it is it really better than vanilla paste? Thanks in advance.

Totally worth it, but you'll need more like 30 beans for 1L of vodka

I don't think it's better than a good paste by any stretch, but it is certainly better than store bought extracts.
I would look into making your own paste instead, I do that, doesn't cost much more if you buy your beans in bulk, and tastes amazing.

AI tink you used right away because the vanilla beans are really the leftovers of the vanilla extract, I am going to keep reading and see what I found.

AThe VBP sounds amazing, I have been using the NM, but these prices are much better. Thanks!

Ana-I've never made my own vanilla extract, I tend to use the paste for everything. I do make my own vanilla sugar, it's not necessary but I like using it for certain things.
