I have never worked with fondant icing before and had a couple of questions. I am fairly confident that I can put fondant on a cake. I was wondering does fondant icing decorations dry hard like royal icing? If I were to make flowers or figures. Which icing is better used for decorations on cake, royal or fondant?

Normally, fondant will not get as hard as royal icing. However, if you add gum-tex to it when mixing (and you work quickly) , this will allow the fondant to get harder. By the way, what type of faondant are you using? IMHO, MMF is the best. It costs about three dollars to make a batch, it's extremely pliable, has a MUCH better taste, and is easier to color.
