I need to make a cake that looks like a silver coin (for a coin collector lol) Im having trouble finding info on how to make the entire cake a silver metallic. Ive seen forums on painting on small parts, but not for the entire cake. I need to make this cake in about a week.

Thank you!!

The easiest way to get an entire cake to be silver metallic (that I've tried) is covering the whole cake in a mid grey colour, then make a 'paint' from edible shimmer powder and a clear alcohol.

It's super quick and easy and it looks like this:

I've also used this cake with mustard yellow and gold shimmer for amazing gold wedding cakes!

Hope this helps

Look into the edible sprays by PME and ChefMaster. I think even Wilton makes silver metallic. The silvers are excellent.

If you have an airbrush, airbrush silver metallic by Americolor is great.  No airbrush?  You can paint with the airbrush color very easily.  It's a nice consistency as long as you shake it well before applying.  Not too heavy, as it can break down the surface of the fondant.
