Fbct Question, Can You Cut Through It?

I'm going to try out a fbct on a practice cake. My question is, after you've placed it on the cake, does it thaw out on the cake and become the same consistancy of the buttercream underneath it? Can you cut through it if you give it time to "warm" up, or will it stay hard and break in half if you try to cut a piece out of it?
It softens up like regular buttercream. You can cut through it. It thaws out really fast.
Well, if you do it right ( and I am not being a snot) it should blend into the buttercream and look like you tatooed the cake (see my pics for examples) - the chef one I made or the ice cream cake! You can most definitely cut through it and it doesn't take long for the FBCT to defrost either - just be careful when you put it on, don't force it or you will break it!
Depending on how long you freeze, it will thaw within minutes. When I am in a hurry I freeze for only an hour or so. Then when I place it I have to work fairly quickly as it will begin to thaw as I touch it. If you are not serving for an hour or so after placing, you will be fine.
