AI just recently ordered hi ratio shortening after doing a bit of research and learning that the buttercream would not break down as fast as it would if I were to use Crisco. My only problem is I haven't found any recipes that appeal to me, I'm just now getting back into decorating so I don't have a lot of money to invest in the ingredients right now so the easier & cheaper the recipe the better. Any recipe given would be greatly appreciated as well.

this is the formula I use

14 oz hi ratio shortening

4 # powdered sugar

8 oz hot water

1 tblsp salt

1 tblsp clear vanilla

mix shortening and water to incorporate

add salt and vanilla

add sugar slowly

scrape down sides of bowl

let mix till smooth 3-5 min

may need to adjust water amount to suit

summer I use less water

this formula is from my grandfathers bakery I would make

an 80 qt bowl twice a week!
