APlease help. For the first time I'm going to attempt to make a three tier topsy-turvy cake. Baking is a new hobby of mine so I am by no means a professional. You're my questions: -can I use boxed Duncan Hines cake mix? I have read that boxed cake mix is not dense enough but can add things to make it a little denser -what can I add to make the cake mix Denser? -do I have to freeze the cakes before cutting? Can I just put it in the refrigerator?

Any help is greatly appreciated :) Thanks, Elise

From my experience, homemade cakes are usually always denser. I'm not sure why, probably from not being as processed or maybe its because most boxed cake mixes contain pudding. So I would go with homemade cakes, but I haven't been doing cakes long, so if someone else says different, I'd probably go with them.
