Wedding Cake (Silhouette Edible Printing)
Decorating By Mad Cake House Updated 19 Jul 2017 , 5:51pm by jselle
Hi guys, I have this wedding cake order coming up, and the bride liked this cake.
How can I make this silhouettes on the cake.
The second and 4th layer are so detailed. I fon;t think I can just print in edible paper and try to cut around it, can I?
Please help, I really wanna make this cake but I want to be sure that will work.
Thanks in advance

I would use gum paste. Roll really thinly and then having already made a template, cut out the shape.
Carefully smooth the edges and then place onto the cake using one of the following two mathods.
1. Allow gumpaste to dry for several minutes, until it is 'leathery' and easier to handle. With just a small amount of edible glue, stick to cake. The grass on the 2nd tier and the veil on the top tier is either done with edible paint (so edible black dust diluted in alcohol or glaze) or you could royal ice it.
2. To put the silhouettes on the cake, immediately after cutting the shapes get some cellphane or acetate and place a very fine smear of white fat on it. Lay the cellphane/acetate on the top... the images should stick to the cello/acetate. Now lift, and put a small amount of edible glue on the back then carefully place onto the cake. Gently peel the cello/acetate away.
Good luck. It's a lovely cake.

I love silhouettes but they are such a PITA to cut out and those are super detailed. When I do them, I print them as an edible image and use my exacto knife..along with bad words. Unless I could find someone with a cricket machine to cut them out for me..I would not do that design. That is my next toy I am buying I think. Wishing you muck luck and patience on that one!
Having had another, closer, look at the cake, I believe ALL the silhouettes have been hand-painted!!
They're painted. She's at the other cake site. This is what she said:
This is my second silhouette cake and my favourite cake to date that i have made, I searched the internet for pictures i wanted to use and then i hand drawn the pictures onto the cake. My inspiration for this cake were the shadow dancers “Attraction” This years BGT winners.
If you google "forever in love" "Meddussa" (in separate quotes like that), you'll find her.
Can someone make silhouettes similar to this and mail it to me? I can't find anyone local that can do this and I really want it for my wedding cake ! PLEASE HELP!
Jmktlove, I used my Cricut to cut the silhouettes for a recent cake. I cut the silhouettes from a black sugar sheet and then applied them with piping gel. Maybe you could find someone close to you with a Cricut or a similar cutting machine? The castle is gum paste, btw.
I actually don't know anyone in my area. Thank you for the knowledge though! At least I have a starting point . Question where do I get black sugar sheet ?
I bought them at Joanns. Michaels also carries them, or you can order online from Amazon. I used the Wilton brand sheets for this project.
