AOkay yesterday I tried my first chocolate cake and sadly i wasn't very successful, it came out wayyyyy too oily... To the touch. I think i should've used butter instead of oil but i don't know, any thoughts? Here's the recipe:

2 cups white sugar 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 2 eggs 1 cup milk 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

Sorry it didn't come out right. You made the classic Hershey's Chocolate Cake recipe. Perhaps you made a mistake in measuring? Or in following the directions? It's a lovely cake recipe but can be temperamental. I use this recipe but reduce the baking soda and baking powder to 1 teaspoon each. And reduce the water to 3/4 cup. Those changes might help.

Sub butter for the oil.
