I am making a stained glass display cake about 1 month earlier than I need it for.  I have painted it with a mixture of vodka, corn syrup, and clear piping gel.  It does have some sheen to it but I want more.

(3) Questions

1.-  Which is better for shine; PME or CK glaze?

2.  If I use the glaze now will it still be shiny in a month or should I glaze it closer to the date I need it for?

3.-  If it was a real cake (to be consumed) would these glazes really be ok to use?

Thank you!

I would use piping gel thinned with a little water and I would use it pretty close to the date you wanted.  It will lose its shine over time.
