ADoes anyone know how you would go about making the purple wrapper on this cake? Should I make it ahead of time and set the cake inside of it, or wrap it around the cake? Also how would I achieve the fluted top?[IMG ALT=""]http://cakecentral.com/content/type/61/id/3093778/width/200/height/400[/IMG]
To me it looks like it is fondant, that they wrapped around pink fondant or they just put the purple on top of the pink. At any rate, it's fondant looking to me that they made the ridges in, I'm just not sure what they would have used to get the "ball" affect on the top.
I think it looks like they made it with the giant cupcake pan.
You can make the bottom half of the cake in the pan and then use candy melts/colored chocolate to coat the inside (or outside) of the bottom half of the pan and put the cake in that.
Am I making any sense?
