Need A Good Vanilla Cake Recipe For Only One 6 In. Tier (Two 6In. Pans)

Hi! I need to make a small cake, 6 in. round in total and I'm wondering if anyone has a recipe for a single tier that is 6 in. round. I know that if I use a traditional recipe I would have extra batter and just wondered if there is a recipe floating around that would only fill two 6 in. round pans.
Thanks!!
if your recipe makes two 8 or 9-inch layers then divide in two to make two 6-inch layers.
Or make the entire recipe and make two 6-inchers and then cupcakes with the rest. Good to have in the freezer, or give to neighbors, och the nice guys working in the corner shop.

You can also freeze the leftover batter from your favorite recipe. I did that and it came in handy when I just needed a little more batter and didn't want to make an entire batch.
AFrom scratch sf has a delicious vanilla cake recipe. Just cut the recipe in half. http://fromscratchsf.wordpress.com/2011/07/26/white-cake-part-3-with-recipe/
