Hi there :)

I'm new to molds and started thinking. Until now I used simple designs couple of times, which didn't need detailing. My question is how to you apply details on your molded fondant? Do you paint it or do you patchwork it with different colors of fondant?

Example: How do you achieve results like on the photo (the ladybug, bee and pea pod)?

Hi Anooshka, the only two methods I'm aware of is painting the fondant shapes like you said, but this never comes out as perfect as those pictures in your post, or putting different coloured fondant for different part of the figure in the mold, eg black for the head, red for the body.  But these little critters are so tiny and have lots of parts I don't know if this would be feasible.  Honestly? I think these sugar models were probably painted and I'm guessing, photoshopped! But maybe somebody out there knows of some other method???
