I'm looking to make my son his first birthday cake in september.

Are there any suggestions for a sugar free cake and sugar free frosting?

I'm also looking for it to not have any sugar substitutes like sweet n low.

Maybe just one thats really low in sugar? I really hate the idea of sugaring him up for the first time and just waiting for the big crash!!!!

thank you

AA cake with no sugar and no sugar substitutes is not cake. I recommend looking into Xylitol, Splenda, or Stevia as alternatives and giving your son a smaller portion if you are worried about a sugar crash. Applesauce or bananas are other popular alternative sweeteners.

I've made cakes and cookies using fruit as the only sweetener. The easiest method is using frozen juice concentrates made without added sugar - oj, apple, and white grape are the most common but you have to read the labels since many concentrates have a lot of sugar added.
