Anybody have any? I'm trying to make a smash cake for my son's 1st birthday. Chocolate or yellow would be perfect.

Thanks!

From scratch or a doctored cake mix?

I always use my regular recipes and bake the rest of the batter as cupcakes or rounds to freeze. Makes great samples or comes in handy for last minute cakes. Sometimes it also makes a nice snack for me!

PS- I bake 6" rounds in 3" deep pans for smash cakes.

Well after researching online, I think the easiest thing would be to just use a regular cake mix (I prefer Duncan Hines) and just use the leftovers for something else. Cupcakes like Lenette suggested - great idea!

I have the 2" pans but I'm going to make it a layer cake so hopefully it will turn out ok.
