Just thought I'd share this: I decided to give the new Cool Whip Frosting a try and I wanted to see if it was possible to use it under fondant. I actually like the flavor of the frosting. It tastes well, like cool whip but more frosting-ish. Go figure. Anyway, I grabbed the vanilla kind and used strawberry extract to flavor it and it worked quite nicely. I've heard that it's usually not doable to use whipped cream frosting under fondant cause it breaks down or the colors run...etc. But I wasn't sure if the cool whip stuff would do the same as homemade frosting. After I rolled out my fondant I did brush on a very thin layer of vegetable oil to create a barrier just in case, but it held up really well under the fondant. No collapsing, dissolving, running, nothing. So there you have it. Cool Whip frosting; totally usable under fondant. And here's the cake I made icon_smile.gif
