What is the best brand for chocolate to achieve a deep black color? I have heard Ameri Color Gel is good?

That's the brand I use. But starting with a brown base helps also, trying to make white buttercream or fondant into black without a brown base (I use chocolate) just ends up icky from too much coloring.

AWaitaminit. Are you trying to color chocolate? If so then you need powdered Color or oil based color, not gel color.

ALeah is right. Water based color will seize your chocolate. Use oil based.

AYes! For chocolate candy melts! The black Wilton brand is like a dark purple more than black. So I went out to this sweet store and found oil based American color. Also found candy melts by CK in black that actually look black! So I do have another question.... how to prevent cake pops from condensation??
