I just wanted to thank you all for the help. Even if you didn't comment on my post I still had your help from reading your posts. The design did change. No fondant, didn't make the Dahlia's, no purple but for my first (probably last icon_biggrin.gif) try, I'm pretty pleased. Still have a few petals and swirly things to add and do some touch-ups. I have sooo much respect for what you all do. You guys that are afraid to charge for your cakes... Don't sell yourselves short. You're worth every penny and then some!

Beautiful!  You don't need fondant to make a pretty cake.  Excellent job!

That cake is absolutely beautiful. Better than a lot of "professional" cakes. The flowers remind me of fabric blowing in a breeze. Really nice job.

This was the extent of my cake decorating. LOL I made it this past Easter. The cakes I made prior to the wedding cake were from a box with canned icing. 2, 2"x9" rounds with some icing slapped on them. I'm not kidding. There's nothing to be scared of. I read tons of posts on here and watched tons of YouTube videos to the point I almost felt like I had already made one. That wedding cake is far from perfect and it's not my original plan but I'm very pleased with it. It's not a big cake either. 2, 2"x9" (which is really more 8 1/2), 2 2"x6" and 2, 2"x4".  Out of curiosity, what would you guys charge for a cake like that? It's buttercream, each cake is cut in two and filled with buttercream if that matters.

I'm a beginner too...that cake is what I call CLASSIC. Very simple and very elegant in my book.

I would charge about $350-$400. but I don't make wedding cakes.  That's what I would pay for that cake though!
