Hi, I moved to South Africa last year. So I am struggling to find items that would normally be easy for me to run out and get in the USA.

The biggest one is Fondant.

So my question is this; if I can't find a place to purchase fondant, does anyone have a good recipe for it? It must be soft and not get hard.

What is your go to fondant?

Thanks for your help.

Hi KJithoo - welcome to SA. Which part of South Africa are you in?

Fondant is easily found in most areas. Normally is called Pettinince or rolled Fondant. Now Pick n Pay, Checkers and Spar stocks these too - but this is too expensive and you need to find a good baking supplies store rather.

Recently we also get Satin Ice in stores.

Thanks for the info. I am in the Durban area. Where are you?

Which stores are stocking Satin Ice? I have looked in Checkers and Spar but I have only seen mazipan or what they just call white icing. I have not seen fondant.

Do you know of a good bakery supply place in my area? I heard about a place called Bake A Ton. I have not checked it out yet. I saw it in an advert in this week.

Thanks again for all your help. It is greatly appreciated.
