I saw this on the net while surfing of course.

Have a cake coming up and thought wow that would look good trimmed is that pretty iridescent icing I saw....

Then I googled & googled and i've googled my fingers out looking for what it is or something similar.

Its translucent, iridescent and pearly type icing.

Does anyone know what it is and/or a recipe for it?

Been driving me bonkers. No one I know knows what I'm talking about.

Its an old picture...

Help!

It's on this site:

http://www.makemycake.com/

You could e-mail them and ask.

I would guess that it is buttercream icing with pearl dust but I'm not expert on that.

Thanks I know the site it came from. My "day job" does business with the company. Didn't want to have to ask them since they kinda "know" me.

Was hoping someone here knew...

Could it be piping gel mixed with pearl luster dust?

Hmmm.. I'm assuming it wouldn't crust.

I've only ever used pipping gel for blood....

Shanter- Thanks a million VERY cool!

Looks like they airbrushed the cake with super pearl luster dust...after icing.  Don't think it has anything to do with the icing recipe.icon_smile.gif

I thanked them for responding to my question and I just got another message from them--I had told them I wanted to use that frosting on a cake for my sister's birthday. Now they want me to send them a picture of the finished cake, so if you do make it, please get in touch with me so we can send a picture!
