So, I'm trying to put together a Mounds Cake.  I found a filling recipe I want to try, it's typically used to make homemade mounds bars.  The recipe says it can be left out at room temperature, but I'm not sure if it should.  What do you guys think?  Is this filling recipe safe to be left out at room temp or should it be refrigerated?

14 oz bag flaked coconut

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 tsp vanilla

The condensed milk concerns me...maybe all the sugar keeps it stable??

Mounds candy bars are at room temp, I wonder what their filling consists of?

Thanks in advance!

I think I need a candy bar  icon_biggrin.gif

I wouldnt have a problem leaving it out. But i also leave my coffee creamer out. If it worries you just stick it in the fridge. I have made caramel out of sweetened condensed milk and left it out on the counter with no problems.   HTH

I would leave it out as well...

I also leave out my german chocolate filling (caramel/coconut/pecan) that I make with sweetened condensed milk...

Thanks for the input!  I guess I will try it and see how it goes...  icon_smile.gif  My family will be my test subjects.
