Recently a friend brought me a Pear flavored beer to try. The flavor was a light, crisp fruity flavor. I want to use it to flavor a cupcakes. I've found instructions on how to do that, but my question is what kind of frosting to use to compliment this light fruity flavor. Also to further accent and garnish the cupcakes I'd like to add some kind a candied pear maybe...?  Suggestions are welcome.

Sounds great! I bet a pear SMBC would be yummy with it! Try making SMBC (I use the recipe here http://*********.com/frosting-icing-etc/buttercream-meringues/swiss-meringue-buttercream-or-smbc). On that site they say how to make different flavors, for example for strawberry SMBC you fold in 1/2 cup of pureed strawberries. You could try folding in pureed pears instead! Lorann makes a pear flavored oil you could also use to boost the flavor. I am guessing it would be a light delicate flavor. For garnish maybe dice a pear, dry it and coat it in sugar crystals? HTH :)
