AI am looking for different flavors that maybe you have come up with on your own that not many people would do. I am wanting to try totally different flavors that noone would think of. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

do a search for a gigantic thread started by macsmom

there's probably not enough days in the year to try every flavor in there ;)

AI've read that one before. I was thinking like chocolate lavender or something not everyday type.

just happen to have my lavender devils food recipe handy

from sharon shipley's lavender cookbook

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  •  2 teaspoons dried culinary 'provence' lavender buds, finely ground in a spice grinder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 pound butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

just make & bake it like any choco cake

ADo you think adding mint would be too much? For some reason I want chocolate mint lavender cake but am un sure of what the turn out will be. Haha

i think one might get lost in the other

but if you hit it right it could be awesome

but it might compete

you could make the batter then add mint to a cupcake amount & bake it off & see how you like it?

oh no --i got it--use mint icing!!!!!

but still you (or i would anyhow) would wanna test it to be sure it's all compatable

because the lavender is a gentle light flavor or it goes into sudden death soap flavor so there's a balance there

AYa I was thinking mint icing wih chocolate labender cake but just slightly mint. Like as a filling just every other layer so its not over powering.

ALayer it with chocolate buttercream and mint buttercream. Could be good but they can't over power one another
