I Need To Make A Vet's Table For A Cake. Help Please!

My 10 year old daughter is desperate for me to make her a Vet's cake as she is mad on animals. I want to have a table on top of the cake that will be strong enough to hold a fondant dog!! I've never used pastillage and wondered if this would be strong enough. I'm also worried about it sinking into the cake. Anyone got any ideas please.
Why not make a rectangular shaped cake to look like the actual vet table? Put a dog or cat on top, a couple treats, maybe a few vet-type exam instruments...
You know, I've been thinking about it and I'm gonna take you advice but I think I'll make the table out of rice krispie treats and still have the table sittling on top of the cake, but as your suggestion in a rectangle shape.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my message it means so much.
It's amazing to think that little old me here on a little island in the English Channel is getting advice from you all the way in Rock Island, Illinois!!! Wow!!
Thanks again

Glad I could help! Good luck! Don't forget to post a pic when it's done...I'd love to see the final result.
Hi GixxerChick, Here's my finished Vet's cake. Thank you for your help with the table. It worked out great in the end.
I think that is just about the cutest cake I've ever seen! Absolutely love it. Still chuckling over the snake! Very well done!
