Hi all,
I am looking for a really good "plain" spice cake recipe. Not apple spice or pumpkin spice, just spice cake. I usually just use a modified cake mix for this, but I am trying to get more into scratch baking and spice cake is one of my hubby's favorites. Please share your tried and true recipe.
Thanks all,
Kathi
I know you asked for a tried & true recipe but I recently came across this one and it has a lot of good reviews. If you want to try it, you can find the recipe at http://food52.com/recipes/1846-faulknerian-family-spice-cake-with-caramel-icing
TY Goreti. I will keep it as reference, in case I don't get other responses or want to try a number of them!

I posted a recipe here on CC for Moravian Spice Cake. The spice taste isn't overpowering and it make great cupcakes, too.

This recipe is awesome. You can read my story about it on my first post.
Thanks jgifford. I will check it out. Chessiebakes, that is a great story. I will be sure to try this cake only with AP flour, not SR flour!
Thanks,
Kathi
