ok so I have a new want to know how to blow sugar. Since I have never done it I'm needing some guidence, would like some advice (ie do's donts) but also ways to put togeather a cheap set up? Due I have looked in to the equipment and well it's not cheap (and im currently unemployed) so any helpfull hints and ideas are welcome!

AI do not know your familiarity with sugarwork in general so it is hard to go off of what you have said so far. Most techniques build upon each other. I.e. cast a base, and pull the rest, take the excess and use it for blowing. Take all the pieces and bring them together into a cohesive whole. Working with blown sugar only is rather one dimensional in terms of technique repetoire. There are quite a few other techniques I would recommend learning before blowing sugar.

If you have not done any sugar work at all before, it is required to know how to pull sugar befoe attempting to blow a piece. Blowing sugar uses all the knowledge from pulling and then builds on that. If you try to jump the gun to blowing techniques you will have nothing but frustration and a glob of sugar stuck to a pipe that has hardenedlike a rock. It is very difficult to blow sugar (for me at least, for some it is easier) and if you really want to know how to do this I would rather you have a good experience with it. The best way to ensure that is to be adept in basic pulling skills (i.e. ribbons, flowers, tendrils, bows, etc). IF you want to start there then I can think of a few things that are economical. PM me if you are genuinely interested.

The only exception to skipping basic pulling techniques is if one has experience in traditional glass blowing. If that is the case then something might be workable.
