Hi there, I currently have a small cake decorating business called Patsy Cakes (after my grandmother, her name was Patsy and I got my love of baking from her) and one of my best friends has a vegan bakery called Lily Reid. Her and I are trying to start our own bakery with both vegan and traditional options. We are now faced with the challenge of coming up with a new name. I really don't want to give up my name for sentimental reasons but I can't really ask her to give hers up either.

Anyway, we want to come up with something that will be at least slightly obvious what it is. She has come up with a few names and I have yet to fall in love with a name. I guess I'm looking for some advice or ideas. I just don't feel super inspired lately for some reason...probably this crummy weather icon_confused.gif

Any help is greatly appreciated!

what about keeping the individual names as denoting the two different categories

and go with a location location location name

you get brilliant advertising every time it's seen or spoken

capac cakes

or the name of the street or the number of the address or the neighborhood

young street deli

main street cakes

main street bakes (i like this rhythm best)

baking front street (this is nicely action oriented)

then you have the two divisions under that--i'd keep those names for sanity's sake

it's a twofer

baking on both sides of the street patsy cakes and lily reid's

baking on both sides of main street patsy cakes and lily reid's

show a compass with one on the east and the other on the west

Choosing a name is very personal.

If you are just too tied to the name, try a merge  Patsy & Reid cakes or Lily & Patsy Cakes.

If it's possible for you to love a different name, maybe you can compromise with a dedication.  I'd hang Patsy's photo & a brief description of how she inspired you in the bakery as well as on your website.

AI love Patsy & Lily, or Patsy & Reid Cakes/Bakery.

I like what I read once before here... the business name is your first contact for advertising what you do. Does your name sound like a law firm? Shoe store? Or a great place to get sweet treats... nostalgia is nice, but it is a business.

Lol well your friends have great taste! I'm in Canada, so I think you should go right ahead if you like the name. No one will ever confuse the two of us :)
