AHi, all. Does anyone know or have some ideas on how to make icing look like icy snow? I will be using cream cheese icing and making the cake sort of like a landscape on High. Thanks for any help!

i would color some large crystal sugar and fine granulated sugar blue--just rub the color into the sugar

i would use that as seed to rub into another small bowl of sugar to make various lighter shades

so you'd have differing shades and textures for best affect

and use some without any color

and i'd mix some of it with a bit of icing so it looks clustered up but icey & grainy

i'd use all that to sprinkle and swirl with the iced cake

you could take a bit of blue colored icing and dab color underneath where you will put the crystals too

and say it was just the tip of a pointy mountain peak all covered with snow

i'd sugar up the bottom edge of the 'snow'

chilly ideas for you :)

icicles --see link attached

and be aware that some of our glasswares can be explosively dangerous in the microwave

so be careful but i've done this many times

isomalt is nice but it is not gastro friendly

AHow about using royal icing sprayed with pearl luster when dry.

Spread the icing on the cake/ board ect, then when dry airbrush/ dust/ spray with pearl luster dust.

Hopefully I successfully attached the pic....but this is my little cake. My friends loved it, but I wish we had found more toys to add! Oh, well. Thanks to everyone who helped. I used royal icing for the sides, and mixed the sugar crystals with powdered sugar.
