I am wanting to make a ganache to pour over my cake. I normally use heavy whipping cream in my ganache, but my husband got regular whipping cream by accident. I know the fat content is different. Would it be possible to get the same basic results by using just whipping cream instead of heavy whipping cream?

I doubt you'll get the same result.

Add some butter to what your husband bought. That will fix the ganache.

Anyway this name stuff is have to go by the butterfat percentage.

Heavy cream is about 35% BF and whipping cream is 40+% so you can sort of figure out how much butter to add.
