There's Red Red, Christmas Red, Super Red... What brand and shade of red is best for nice red roses? I thought someone told me the Red Red was the best red or was it Super Red?

Thanks for your advice!

Any red coloring will make nice red roses as long as you use enough. Chefmaster paste is nice, however, you can also get a nice red using McCormick (or any brand) liquid coloring from the grocery store (it's what I used to make the red roses in my video).

I always use Americolor Super Red for both icings and red velvet cake.
But as the previous poster said the more coloring you add the more intense and vibrant the color becomes, but you also have to be careful you don't want to change its taste with too much paste.

Also make sure you color your icing at least a week in advance. The more time you give it to set the darker it gets. I color then freeze it until I need it

And don't forget Chinese Red. I agree, any red makes a great red rose but if it's too orangy for you then just add a teeny tiny end of a toothpick full of black.
