Hi all. I have a request to duplicate these cupcakes:

i see how she used a onsie cutter which i can buy, and she explains how she makes the 'tutu' look...but the lady wants me to make them pink w/ pink tutu with zebra stripes... I dont think laying fondant stripes on these ruffles would look right...any ideas how i can get a zebra look?

thanks!

the only way i can see getting the zebra print is to make a fondant ruffle

I'm not sure if it will give the look you want but it is possible to get good stripes by painting neat colour onto the inside of the bag. I would suggest that you experiment with some spare icing and see if it is possible to get a result you are happy with otherwise it may be that you could paint the zebra stripes on using a brush rather than piping them on.

Hope this is of some help

You could use fondant/gumpaste and do something along these lines

I made these ages ago. You could make the pattern on the paste and then frill the edges. It might give a similar effect to the one you're after?

thank you all for your responses! i ended up offering to do the actual leotards w/ zebra stripes...and the ruffles solid colors! icon_smile.gif and she was okay with that. i got worried for nothing!
