I'm making several pieces (babies, buttons, bows, etc.) out of fondant for use on cupcakes and a cake for a baby shower. I wanted to make these in advance so the day of the shower won't be so stressful, but wasn't sure how to store them so they don't dry out.

I am by far no expert, but from what I have read you need to keep them in an airtight container. Sorry, I cannot be more exact. Hope you get the answers you need.

much like a fondant-covered cake, the exterior of any figurines or molded decorations will "dry out". the only way to keep fondant pliable is to wrap it in airtight material (plastic or vacuum-sealed foil) where the material comes into contact with the fondant.
