Hi!
Does someone know if it is possible to make a 3 tiered cake with a queen Elizabeth recipe? Will it hold up fine if I put dowels (big plastic straws) in the cakes? It is for my mother in law's 60th birthday and it is her favorite cake. Thank you for your help!

Are you worrying about the broiled on topping? It will be just fine between two layers for every tier. The cake itself is good for tiers.

You might even consider baking the cake thinner so that you have 3 thin layers for each tier, with 2 layers of that broiled topping. That would really hit the spot for your mum.
