Ok I'm no professional by far I'm just starting to make cakes for people (friends and fam). ANYwho I LOVE coma inducing sweet frostings, my friend that I am making a cake for not so much. I have tried the crumb boss's smbc recipe and it taste like a stick of butter to me and she (my friend) said it was a little off and kinda buttery. Now i know its BUTTERcream but the all american recipes dont taste like a stick of butter maybe its because of the excessive amount of powdered sugar (which i love). Or maybe I just did it wrong this smbc. She kinda likes the 'whipped' stuff (normally she buys her party cakes from costco or walmart). It will be a spongebob cake for her 9 year old. My problem was not only to find a more sturdy whipped icing but something that will hold up. Originally I was going to cover this cake with fondant but now I am thinking just the icing and fondant accents. I am making spongebobs neighborhood (houses out of RK treats on top of the cake). Also this cake is gonna be 13x18 and she has no fridge space so its gotta be able to hold up out of fridge for a couple hours maybe like 3 or 4 hours...I am so stuck and you all always have great suggestions....HELP ME PLEAS...thanks in advance!

You could use Frostin Pride or Bettercream. This recipe is really good. You could sub non dairy coffee creamer for the whipping cream. The butter I don't worry about as we leave butter at room temp and have never gotten sick. The sugar helps preserve the ingredients.
