Hi everyone, I have been asked to make a wedding cake and given a very intricate design with curlicews and fine leaves to copy onto the cake. It will be covered in sugarpaste and the design will also be in sugarpaste, navy blue. The trouble is the bride wants the single design to start at the bottom and go all the way up the 3 tiers. I can cut it out by getting a stencil made but how do I get onto the cake in one piece, it's going to be over 12" tall! Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

Two things to do right away before you worry:

--ask the bride if she means that the pattern falls on the flat top of each tier as well as on the vertical sides,

--tell the bride how much you will charge her for these curlicues and fine leaves, to make sure that you get paid properly for this intricate work. I mean a charge that is separate from the charge per serving for the cake and base icing.

Dollars to donuts you will have a simpler design...
