Hi everyone!

I have no idea how I should go about this. I'm making a grooms cake for my fiance. We're getting married in 9 days! I've made a driveway gate out of gum paste and I need it to stand on top of the cake itself. I seriously cannot think of how to stand it up, as it's kind of tall!

Here's a picture of it

I'm thinking the only possibility would be to have a couple layers of cake behind it like a backdrop so it can set against it.

Any other ideas?

You may be able to "glue" some skewers to it with royal icing, and then stick the skewers into the cake.

Toothpicks. Use black royal icing or black tinted chocolate to glue the picks to the back of the gate. The gate doesn't look very big or heavy, so the picks would only need to be an inch or so from the bottom of the gate. A little icing on the bottom of the gate that matches the top of the cake, will hold it on for sure.

Wishing you all the best!

Thanks, both of you! I don't know why I didn't think of that!
