Hi All,

I am fairly new to all of this and have been learning a lot from all of you. I have been making my own MMF for the past couple months with much success... until a couple weeks ago, when I had a very dark navy blue cake. I used the same recipe, but had to use quite a bit of coloring to get the color I needed. After I covered the cake, it kind of cracked in holes, though. Not lines. That night, after placing all the decorations, it started to buckle on the bottom of the cake and tear at the top. Sagging, in one portion of the cake. Is this due to excess amount of coloring or something else? Also, how do you color MMF dark colors? I have another dark pink cake coming up soon and need to find out how to do this.

Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Maryann

Not sure what you used to color you MMF paste or liquid- try a powdered food coloring. Also you can add cocoa to the mix as a darker base to add deeper colors icon_smile.gif
