I need to bake a 13 x 9 using the Cake Mix Doctor's Strawberry Cake, a recipe I have successfully used many times in smaller round pans. I have tried twice today and both times, my cake sunk in the middle. I used a nail on the second attempt, and it helped a little, but not much. The recipe calls for 4 eggs, should I reduce it to 3? I need 4 of these suckers so I can't afford another mistake. Thanks!

Katie

What type of cake mix (brand and flavor) are you using. Some mixes do not like to be tampered with. Also, you should add a second nail and bake longer. Sounds like it is not done in the center. What temp are you baking at?

Let me know... you can pm me if you would prefer.

How much batter are you using? Maybe you don't have enough in the pan.
Have you checked that your oven is working properly. At what temp are you baking? It may not be hot enough.
How bad in the dip in the middle? If it's slight just fill it w/icing or filling or cake crumbs from leveling a cake (or saved from the failed ones).
there is no need for 2 nails in the celnter. I have baked 100s of cakes that size w/out any!
