My cupcakes have sour cream in them and my local grocery store has a great sale. Would like to stock up but didn't know if anyone has ever froze it.

I wasn't sure so I actually looked it up. According to about.com frugalliving.about.com, they say that yes you can freeze sour cream but it changes in consistency so it should be used for cooking only rather than dishes where you would use raw, so for cupcakes it would be perfect.

I just googled it and they say yes and no. You can google it to read the explanations for the differences.

I froze some once and when it defrosted it had a curdled consistency. It didn't taste good either.
