I have a friend wanting me to make her a small cake to go on her dessert table at her wedding. She wants one of the layers completely painted in gold. Can't get the picture to upload, so I put the link below.

My questions are what do you recommend I use to produce the color (luster dust? What shade?) how do I get the paint to look seamless and how much should I charge for painting a 6" or an 8" round cake (hasn't decided on size yet.

I don't know if I answered this in another thread or if it's someone else who asked the same question, but I just wrote a blog entry about this today http://www.acaketorememberva.blogspot.com/2012/03/how-to-get-gold-finish-on-fondant.html

As fas as how much to charge, it takes A LOT of gold luster dust to do this, so I'd add at least $10-15 onto the basic price if you want to just cover the cost of the luster dust.
