Hello!

I had a bride bring me this picture tonight and was just wondering what you guys suggest to achieve the look of these tiers. To me, it looks like they are stacked and then carved. Do you think that I would do all the same size tiers for each layer (ex: 6" top then carved down) or do you think they are multiple sizes on each tier? Any and all advice is appreciated! icon_smile.gif

There would be less waste with multiple sizes on each tier.

I've done that before and use 1" smaller on bottom than top layer. I tried 2" smaller one time and to carve it that steep made it unstable where the top point wanted to collapse. For example to do a 3 tier, I did from the top down with 6 on 5, 7 on 6, and 8 on 7 for a small one. For a larger version, I've done 6 on 5, 8 on 7 and 10 on 9 so I can use one of each size. Hope that helps!!

Forgot to mention that it does take carving but just enough to take off the excess and give it the tapered look. Good luck!
