Hope someone can give me an estimate. I have to make 200 cupcakes for a Girl Scout Camporee. The girls will be frosting their own cupcakes. We will be camping so I need to make sure I make and bring enough frosting.
Any idea on how much to make to be safe? We will be putting the frosting in pastry bags so then they can pipe the frosting. Less clean up for us.
Also how many cups of frosting will a pound of butter make. Estimate of course. I do whip the heck out of it.
I use around 50g/2oz of frosting on my cupcakes using a standard swirl. So if it were me, I would make 10kg/22lb plus a bit spare. I have no idea how much that would be in volume, sorry.
Make sure you don't load the pastry bags too much for little hands, and so there are enough to go around without the kids having to wait til someone else is finished.
I use 2.5 cups for every 2 dozen.
