I have an upcoming wedding cake that is all chocolate buttercream. I wanted to try to break up the color a bit by starting with a darker chocolate on top and then fading to a lighter chocolate on the bottom. Do you think that this would be best achieved by using different types of chocolate for each tier, or by using the same chocolate and just smaller amounts for the bottom tier and then adding more chocolate to the buttercream with each tier?

Thanks[/b]

hmm, i'd go with the same chocolate. perhaps start off with a small amount of your darkest shade first, then gradually add white buttercream to it bit by bit as you progress through the tiers. beforehand mix some small target sample shades to work towards.
