Hi Everyone,

I am doing a cake that is going to have fondant ribbon and bow on it. I would like to make the fondant look like fabric, and have purchased a "silk" impression rolling pin. I have tried it a few times, but the results are inconsistent.

I know practice will make it better, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help roll the pin over the fondant with even pressure - as that seems to be my problem.

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes, ypu have to practice and practice. It took me several times to get it right. I had to learn how to do it without pushing so hard to make the impression. Its not necessary, You have to use long and even strokes. Once you start moving, don't stop rolling intil you get to the end of yr fondant piece.

I'm sure someone else can give a tip or two for you as well.
