Hi! My mom has asked/is letting me make her wedding cake. She wants real flowers on it- nasturtiums, which are edible and come in a variety of colours ranging from yellow to red. I want to make a cascade down one side of the cake using the petals- I want it to be fairly dense.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to attach the petals to the fondant. I was thinking is painting them with gum arabic? Thoughts? Ideas?

I've not tried gum arabic on petals, but I have sugared them. Dip the them into egg white then in super-fine granulated sugar. Let them dry on a paper towel and you have candied petals. You could apply them to the cake with a dab of piping gel.
