For my brother's grooms cake, I want to create his dog, Max, who loves to destroy tennis balls, and have him surrounded by several tennis balls. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can make the tennis balls look properly fuzzy? The only thought I had was shredded coconut, but that seems too coarse. Any ideas would be very welcome and helpful!

How about superfine sugar tinted the right color? Really fine cookie crumbs? This is a stumper!

Brush with yellow butttercream and pull your brush upward of the fondant to make it textured. Make sure you use yellow fondant under the buttercream.

I did this with a sports ball cake and my tennis ball looked incredibly real.

HTH!

Thanks for that idea, Buttacream. I'll no doubt be using that eventually. It's a technique that's good to have in the repertoire!
