Red Velvet Cake Frosting?

im making a red velvet cake and i want to also do a mm fondant. most receipes i see for the rv cake are a cream cheese frosting, is this ok or should i stick with the buttercream if im going to cover it with fondant?

Hi, look up the decorators cream cheese frosting on this site. It calls for some crisco or hi-ratio shortening. It is not like the original recipe at all, but still taste good and your fondant will adhere to this better. Some on here say they use the original recipe of cream cheese and have no problems. Most on here say not to use original recipe and apply fondant. hth The recipe is also on Designmeacake.com. She is a member here.
