I'm new to cake making and was curious if you should color flavored buttercream. Like does strawberry need to be colored pink, orange colored orange, raspberry a red/pink etc???

Coloring is just a choice based on the cake design. If your flavoring is clear than coloring is completely unneccessary. If you flavoring has a color to it, like my strawberry is actually red so my icing has a very sllight hint of pink then does have a slight tint but I only color buttercream for the design.

If I was going to make a large number of cupcakes for example and I wanted people to be able to tell the flavor by looking at them, then I would tint the buttercream as an easy indicator.

I used strawberry juice for the liquid and it turned it a very nice natural pink. And enhanced the flavor too. (I did use some strawberry flavoring)
