How long in advance do you all bake pound cakes for multiple tier wedding cakes?
A week is fine then you'd have to freeze it. It can't sit out at room temp all that long.
Pound cake is good for a few days. I bake on Wednesday, prep on Thursday, and do detail work on Friday. If I have more than one cake to do, I bake and freeze layers.
Thanks Janice. I feel comfortable with this. Since I have many cake layers to bake for the 4 tier wedding cake I will bake and freeze ahead of time. Since it is just me, I prefer to give myself sufficient time and pace myself esp for someone's wedding cake.
