Hi Everyone,

I am new to the boards and decided to join since I am going to attempt to make my nephew a sculpted cake for his 2 birthday. I was reading other posts and many of you suggested using a WASC cake as a base which i plan to do, now i'm wondering about what a good filling is for layering the cake? What is a crumb buttercream that any people refer to? and if this is the best to use does anyone have a good recipe for me?

Many thanks for your help and my nephew thanks you as well icon_razz.gif

Any filling should be fine. Just make sure if you use a filling that is not firm that you do a stiff buttercream dam around the cake before adding the filling. Recipes will differ on taste. I personally like an all butter buttercream. Do a search in the recipe section and see if there is one that catches your eye.
